How many treatments are needed?
Two treatments are usually needed, at least 4-8 weeks apart although sometimes just one treatment is sufficient. With most procedures, the colour fades dramatically after a week. For the second treatment, the practitioner gauges the colour retention and adds the required amount of pigment needed for the perfect result.
What is the difference between cosmetic tattoo pigments and regular tattoo inks?
Cosmetic Tattoo Pigment Colours are softer, and have been blended to create soft colours for the face. These pigment colours are all pre-mixed and pasteurised which makes them perfect for cosmetic applications. Regular tattoo inks are made up of bright, contrasting and heavy colours that are useful for decorative designs but not suitable for cosmetic applications for the face and camouflage treatments.
What are pigment lotions?
Pigment colour lotions are created to assist in the application of your cosmetic tattoo, they contain the desired pigment or colour for your tattoo that is chosen by your practitioner according to your desired result. These lotions are created when a coloured powder is suspended in a solution of distilled water, alcohol and glycerine which results in a smooth, fine, creamy liquid. The pigments used in the lotions are iron oxide and titanium dioxide, a safe non-reactive substance. These Pigment Lotions are specifically manufactured for implantation into human skin. Most of the Pigment Lotions are inorganic excluding some of the Lip Colours which are organic. Most Tattooists mix their coloured powder with alcohol but do not list the ingredients on their bottles. At NCT you will find all ingredients are listed on our bottles for complete transparency.
How are the colours selected?
The choice of colours depends on your skin tone and the colour of your hair and eyes. With the assistance of the practitioner, suitable colours are selected in order to find the best match. You may like to bring along your own makeup pencil or lipstick and a colour match can be made from this. There are over 400 pre-mixed colours and more colours can be created by mixing colours together ranging from very light to dark for lips and eyebrows. This wide range of colours makes it easier to find a colour that suits your needs as close to you requirements as possible. We use colours imported from four reputable manufacturers in the USA, all tested and proven for over 30 years.
What should I expect after my treatment?
Immediately after treatment, the colour will appear darker than your chosen shade. This is because the pigment takes around seven days to enter the deeper layers of the skin/. After 7-10 days, exfoliation takes place. The top layer of the skin peels off, leaving a softer, lighter colour below. The result is a natural looking enhancement. Some itching may occur, this is normal and is a sign of the healing process. It is important to follow your post-treatment information sheet supplied to you by your practitioner.
How long will the treatment last?
Semi Permanent Makeup can last several years. This depends on your skin type, sun exposure and lifestyle. Longevity of pigment also varies depending on how well your skin holds the pigment. We recommend a colour boost to be taken every 12 months to keep enhancements looking fresh. Should you choose not to have a yearly colour boost your enhancement will fade over a period of approximately 2-3 years.
Does cosmetic tattooing hurt?
Anaesthetics are used to numb the treatment area pre and during the procedure. Some clients may experience slight discomfort and a stinging sensation, more so on sensitive areas such as the lips.

Can I have an allergic reaction to the treatment?
Allergic reactions are extremely rare. However, NCT does provide the option to have a test patch on the skin if requested. An allergic reaction to pigments/dyes can occur immediately after or manifest years later even though a patch test is performed before treatment and the results are clear. Allergic reactions are extremely rare.
What other factors do I need to consider?
The sun fades the pigment faster so sun block may be used to prolong your enhancement.
Regeneration Of Skin Cells:
Each individuals rate of skin regeneration may vary. The longer the regeneration takes the longer the pigment holds
Slower skin absorption allows the pigment to hold for longer periods of time. This may vary between individuals.
Choice Of Colours:
Some colours fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde colour will fade quicker than a dark brown colour.
The Area Of Treatment:
Enhancements to the face, for example, fade more quickly due to constant exposure and product use. Oily skin tends to lose colour more quickly than other skin types.
